Pastoral Counseling

Pastoral Counseling uses faith as well as psychology to enhance an individual's well-being. Pastoral Counselors have a background in theology as well as mental health.
As an ordained minister, I have offered counseling for over fifteen years. I have practiced privately as a counselor since 2011. I respect each client’s spiritual worldview as an important part of a person’s frame of reference. Because I value the sacredness of each person, you can be sure that I will honor the inherent strengths of your particular belief system or work with you from a non-religious perspective. My practice is focused on the treatment of individuals, groups, couples and families. Marriage issues (marriage preparation, marriage enrichment or divorce recovery) as well as parenting issues and improving parent-child relationships are important parts of my practice. I have special interest in working with individuals seeking to deepen or develop a greater understanding of spiritual issues or a relationship with God.
I use a variety of approaches when working with clients. Most often I use Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Theory, Family System Theory, and Cognitive Behavior Theory. The approach used is dictated by the client’s specific needs.
Pastoral Counseling is available in person at The Devoted Life in Mt.Holly, NC. Please contact me to schedule a time to talk.
